Who is the West County Tennis Association
The West County Tennis Association (WCTA) is an incorporated 501(c)(3) non-profit organization contracted by Sonoma County Parks to manage the Ragle Ranch Park tennis courts. The WCTA is a 100% volunteer organization and has no salaried members or staff.
Through extensive fund raising starting in 1985 enough money was raised to finance and build the four-court tennis facility at Ragle Ranch Regional Park. The WCTA signed a contract with the Sonoma County Parks Department that gave them exclusive rights to conduct youth and adult clinics, provide private tennis lessons, and to host USTA League events. This agreement stipulates the courts would be available for the public to show up and play tennis. That has been the case since the courts were dedicated in 1995.
Rich and Wanda Cardiff led the initial fundraising efforts and have managed the courts with the WCTA board. Starting in 2026 Rich and Wanda decided to take a well deserved retirement from this effort and have passed the racquet to the mostly new Board. All tennis players in West County owe Rich and Wanda an enormous debt of gratitude for creating the governnment/volunteer partnership that built the courts and has maintained them for the past 30 years.
The WCTA has a contract that outlines all the responsibilities of the facility; ongoing daily facility maintenance, replacing wind screens, replacing the tennis nets, and the resurfacing of the courts every seven years. Right now the courts are starting to crack to the point that resurfacing is now needed.
