West County Tennis Association

Like the plaque says, the Ragle Ranch Tennis Courts were created from a partnership between the Sonoma County tennis community and the county with labor and materials to build the courts donated by the individuals and organizations names on the placque.

Rich and Wanda Cardiff initiated the drive to create the Ragle Ranch Tennis Courts in 1985, which were completed 10 years later with private donations. After taking care of them for 30 years they retired In 2026. Photo Credit Sebsatopol Times.

To properly maintain the Ragle Ranch Courts, the Premier West County Tennis facility, constant maintenance is required. If wet debris is allowed to accumulate it will rot into a decaying slippery mass that will destroy the surface. In the photos, Bob Phelps, a WCTA member, removes the leaves and water on 2/20/26 after a storm, so the tennis courts will dry out for safe play later in the day. Maintenance is a 100% volunteer effort performed by members of the WCTA.

One of the many Ragle Ranch USTA teams from June 2024. This is the 3.5 level, women’s 55 and over team. Over the years the Ragle Ranch teams have had great success in the USTA with 37 teams getting to the National Tournament plus more into the Sectional Tournaments.

Ragle Ranch Park is a beautiful place for a quiet peaceful walk.

Cool shadows and music under the oaks.

The pergola is an inviting place to hang out before or after tennis.

Overhead!

Well hit ball, notice the tennis practice backboard, the only one in West County.

Maintenance is a lot of work but it’s worth it for tennis. The new windscreens behind Bob were purchased and installed by the WCTA entirely with contributions from membership.
